During the multilingual Slack expansion initiative announced at WordCamp Europe 2026 Contributor Day, I submitted a request for dedicated channels for the Pakistan WordPress community within the Make WordPress Slack. The proposal included channels for general discussion, community events, education, and Urdu translation collaboration.
Today, Pakistan has:
# general-pk
Channel: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C0B9E1H9HGC
General discussion, networking, introductions, and conversations related to WordPress in Pakistan.
# community-events-pk
Channel: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C0BA4MB61DW
A place to discuss Meetups, WordCamps, Contributor Days, community initiatives, and local events.
# education-pk
Channel: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C0B971JHZNH
Learning resources, workshops, Campus Connect activities, mentorship, and educational opportunities.
# polyglots-ur
Channel: https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C0B972SHH6H
Dedicated to Urdu translations, localization discussions, translation reviews, and helping improve WordPress for Urdu-speaking users.
The discussion also helped establish #polyglots-ur as a language-based channel, making it easier for Urdu contributors from anywhere in the world to collaborate on WordPress translations.
Thank you to Karen Arnold, Rocío Valdivia, Mary Hubbard, and the WordPress Community Team for helping make this possible.
This is a small step, but an important one in connecting Pakistani WordPress users, contributors, organizers, translators, students, and professionals with the global WordPress ecosystem.
