Due to the passing of the mother of one of our WordPress contributors, Usama Ijaz, we shifted our monthly contributors’ meeting from an in-person gathering to an online meeting.
May Allah grant her Jannat-ul-Firdous and give strength and patience to Usama and his family. Ameen.
I’m thankful to all our contributors for joining. We had 100% attendance, and most contributors recommended that we continue holding our contributors’ meetings online. We certainly will!
However, I’d still like to encourage everyone to join our in-person meetings as well. And yes, we may include pizza to help make sure our in-person meetings also have a 100% attendance rate. 😄🍕
In our 6th Contributors Monthly Meeting, we discussed how we can improve our translation contributions to support our sponsor, Jetpack.
We are also developing our “Contributors Team” plugin, which will be made publicly available soon. It is a contribution-tracking plugin for WordPress agencies to help them manage their contributor teams.
Our lead developer, Umer Zaki, demonstrated how the plugin will work and discussed the possible features we could add in the future.
Soon, we will also host “New Contributors” meetings online to welcome more people to our team and teach them how they can contribute to WordPress.
These meetings are part of our Subsidized Work-Time program for the summer season, where our sponsors cover workspace fees for contributors as an honorarium for their WordPress contributions.
WPKitchen is looking for more contributors for the winter season and will do its best to support their contributions by covering their internet bills or workspace fees, helping remove some of the barriers to contributing.
My advice:
Learn WordPress. Contribute to open source. Join communities.
